Hitched to a star
Now that mother is gone
That child will go far
The fable goes on
Who really knows
Why this is so
Why mom has to die
As the hero starts to grow
Maybe those writers
Have issues with their mums
They kill her in their stories
And all the glory comes
The sages and the scholars too
Erase her in their tale
G-d becomes all man
And humanity starts to fail
Somehow we forget our warmth
Her loving arms that hold
We have no name to call for her
And we're tired and we're cold
If just once we could recount
The days she shaped our heart
Her memory in our every cell
Our momentous early start....
Instead the news and bibles
Will tell us who we are
Disembodied cut in half
We think we've come so far
